A Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the West Kauaʻi Energy Project (WKEP) was issued today by the Chairperson of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. The determination followed review of a final environmental assessment (FEA) which was submitted by Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative earlier this month.

For the third straight year, Kauaʻi Island Utility Cooperative (KIUC) leads the state in renewables, reporting 69.5% in its annual filing for 2021.
